Jennica LeSiege

Jennica’s Interstices Collection is inspired by dilapidated walls and buildings. The peeling paint and crumbling bricks all have a unique texture and character, inspiring Jennica to recreate them on canvas.

 

​Using primarily acrylics, she paints layer after layer, sometimes adding collage pieces or an unusual texture like sand, window screen or eggshell.  She uses various mark-making tools, especially palette knives and extra sharp graphite pencils, taking the texture as far as possible. On most works, as she builds up the layers, she extends them over the edge of the canvas to keep the illusion going.  Jennica’s goal is to help you sense the texture on the surface, giving you both a visual and tactile experience.
